Guangzhou Essentials

Arrival
By Air to Guangzhou
There are various international airlines traveling to and from Guangzhou at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.

From Hong Kong to Guangzhou

•  Travel by air takes about 45 minutes from the Hong Kong International Airport.
•  Take the intercity passenger rails in Hong Kong to Guangzhou East railway station. Travel time is about 1.5 hours.
•  Take the Guangzhou-Hong Kong cross-border buses from the Hong Kong International Airport or other points in the city. Travel time is about 3.5 hours.

Getting Around
Plenty and relatively cheap, taxis are the best and most comfortable way of getting around the city, although the traffic will slow things down a bit. All taxis are metered. Flagdown rate for each type of taxi is the same (RMB7) but the charge per kilometer depends on the size of the taxi.

Guangzhou's Metro system is very efficient and fairly easy to navigate, as signs and maps are displayed both in English and Chinese. There are two primary lines, one from Xilang to Guangzhou East Railway Station, and the other from Pazhou to Jiengxia. The two lines cross at Gongyuanqian, the central station. Fares start from RMB2 to RMB5.
